About Ruth Gray
Belper artist Ruth Gray has been a professional artist since 2003, before that she was a fashion designer for twelve years. Her work is based around the themes of heritage, particularly industrial heritage. Ruth is best known locally for her artwork depicting the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site a historic place of significant importance in mid-Derbyshire in England UK.
On Fine Art America you will find her artwork that records her home town of Belper which was originally a centre for the nail-making industry since Medieval times, Belper expanded during the early Industrial Revolution to become one of the first mill towns with the establishment of several textile mills; as such, it forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
